SHL data pro license

Updated on 20 Nov 2025

This guide explains how to use the SHL Data Pro license effectively.
It covers all main components: match statistics, DataStudio, and how to create analyses as a Coach or analyst.

1. What do you get with the SHL Data Pro license?

With the Pro license, you have access to all available SHL statistics, including:

  • Attacks and defensive actions
  • Shots
  • Technical faults
  • And much more

For each shot, multiple attributes are stored, such as:

  • Result (goal, miss, save)
  • Location on the goal
  • Location near the circle
  • Name of the shooter
  • Player providing the assist (for goals)
  • Goalkeeper who was in goal

This information can be used for analysis on match, team, positional, and individual level.

2. Match Dashboard

From the match overview, you can click the graph icon next to a match to open that match’s dashboard.

What do you see in the dashboard?

  • Team totals, such as number of attacks, goals and technical faults
  • Player statistics, such as number of shots and efficiency
  • Detailed shot locations: where the shot was taken from and where it ended up on the goal

Viewing clips

By clicking on numbers or shot indicators, you can directly open the corresponding video clips.

Important warning

Do NOT click the tag icon next to a match!

If you click it, you will see the message “COPY”.
This creates a copy of the match data. Only do this if you intentionally want to create duplicates.

3. DataStudio

You can access DataStudio via the logo in the top-left corner.

What can you do in DataStudio?

  • Request data for all teams and all matches
  • View different overviews where statistics are shown per team
  • Goalkeepers can analyze their own numbers over multiple matches
  • Additional information such as Type of attack is available, for example: Power play, Fast break, Second wave, and so on.

DataStudio is iDeal for:

  • In-depth statistical analyses
  • Comparing multiple matches
  • Comparing Team statistics/efficiency
  • Monitoring goalkeeper and player performance

4. Creating analyses as coach, trainer or analyst

The Pro License offers extensive possibilities to create your own analyses.

What can you do?

  • Defenders can study how opponents shoot to adjust their defensive positioning.
  • Goalkeepers can see where players tend to place their shots.
  • Players can watch clips of themselves or others to improve their decision-making and technique.

Using the Playlist feature

As a coach, the playlist function is especially useful for preparation and Team meetings.

For every clip you watch, you can click “Add to playlist” at the bottom of the video.
This allows you to build a Playlist with all the moments you want to show during your Team talk.

You can, for example:

  • Watch and select attacks and add them to a Playlist such as “Next opponent”
  • Line up all shots of a key player to discuss how to stop them
  • Collect defensive actions from the opponent and show them to your team

Advantage of a playlist:
You can combine clips from multiple matches into one clear, continuous list. Perfect for match briefings and tactical preparation.
