Tagging in Video Analysis

Updated on 03 Oct 2023

Tagging in video analysis refers to the process of adding metadata or labels to specific moments or events in a sports video. It is commonly used to highlight key plays, actions, or players during a game or practice session.

When tagging a video after it has been recorded, it is not possible to directly add the names of opponents as tags. However, in live tagging, it is possible to add opponents (and own players) during the tagging process. These players will remain associated with the team for which they were entered, and can be reused in future tagging sessions.

To add players in live tagging:

  • Go to the 'upcoming' tab for matches.
  • If there is a match involving the team for which you want to add players, click on the 'lineup' icon below the match.
  • You can now add players for that team (refer to the team tab in the upper right).

If the desired team is not available in the upcoming matches, you can create a 'temporary' match for the current day with the name of the team for which you want to tag opponent names. Make sure to select the 'existing' team when entering the team.

Once you have done that, you can click on the 'lineup' icon below the match and add players for that team (refer to the team tab in the upper right).

In the post-tagging stage, if you click on a 'chance' (via the pencil) on the tagging page, you can now also add someone from the 'opponent' as a player. This provides valuable insights in the statistics.

TIP: If the live tagger cannot add the opposing players because he/she is not familiar with them, you can add them afterward if you have created the players as mentioned above or entered them directly during live tagging.
